A lazy DIY mom of 2 kids, doing it on the cheap.
Hise a drawer behind a seemingly randomly placed painting. So clever. Visit Design Sponge for the full how to.
This is what we did on Mother’s Day. Removed grass, added plants. Every single plant in this garden was free, thanks to Freecycle and my mother in law We planted a Miss Kim Lilac, a Japanese Maple Tree, tons of hostas, ferns, Lily of the Valley, and other stuff I can’t identify.
It’s looking sorta droopy now, hopefully it’ll perk up soon.
I’d like to fill it in with a couple more native perennial flowers, and add mulch this week.
Hot damn. I’m beat. Today I finished (well, almost) tearing up the grass along the sidewalk in our backyard. There were several large areas of rock to remove as well. That earth hasn’t been touched in years, so it was pretty compacted and full of roots.
Now I need to figure out what I’d like to plant!
This afternoon during naptime I primed the spot for some backyard crops. I decided to turn the whole strip of grass along my fence into a garden. Only about 60% of the project left to finish.
My kids slept the whole time, allowing me to clean up the yard AND take a shower. I couldn’t believe it.
I’ll let you know when I plant something (hopefully this weekend).
We just finished some gardening in the back. We as in me and my three year old. The baby miraculously slept throughout the duration.
I added some rocks around the curved part of our patio. Not sure that they’ll stay there.
I also discovered some hostas growing along the fence, along with 2 root clumps that were growing tiny hostas. They were given to us last year, and then we forgot about them.
I also finally got around to planting the Raunculas I bought a few weeks ago.
I think I’m sunburned.
This morning I finally made a mobile for the baby’s room, and only 9 months late.
I used:
- a stick from the front yard
- feathers I’ve had since college
- embroidery floss
- pine cones
I paired together feathers that looked good and tied the about an inch from the stem, then tied it to the stick. I added 2 pine cones as an afterthought.
I just used embroidery floss to hang it to an eye hook from the ceiling. That’s it.
